Park near the train station, very easy to get to from there. Absolutely don't walk up the hill to the back over looking the river tweed & definitely don't fall face first into stinging nettles. Not really much to see but worth a visit if you are in the area.
What an unexpected, but great discovery.
We were looking for somewhere to wander as we'd only really looked at the town centre. …
As the plaque says this it seems to be the staircase to the Berwick castle. Though it is in ruins it is preserved well. Though the stairs are inaccessible, the lower part shows the stone structure which is connected with the walking path along the Riverside.
Good area to walk about , good views of the tweed and bridges
Love a good walk around Berwick-upon-Tweed always something to do or see
Nice walk or cycle around the walls, good well preserved fortifications. No tickets needed, free. Some little steep bits but mainly flat.
Lovely remains of a small guard. Its closed at some point but doesnt rly mean u cant climb up 😂 …
Well worth a stroll from the town centre to come and view what was once quite an important building for the defences of Berwick Upon Tweed. That, and you can sit amongst the ruins and admire the rather spectacular view.
Love this place, people are friendly its not too busy great place for walking or hiking or bird watching
Fantastic views and beautiful beaches and loads of historic place's to visit
Historic castle ruins that are worth a walk from the town centre to see. There's not a great deal left of the castle, but the setting makes it special. From here there are great views up and down the river Tweed, and the railway viaduct is truly impressive, towering over the ruins.
